Wire Run is a free DC wire size calculator. This policy describes exactly what the site collects. Contact: the contact form at /contact.html.

What you type into the calculator

Nothing. The voltage, load, length and drop you enter are calculated in your browser and are never sent to us. They appear in the address bar so you can bookmark or share a result, and they stay on your device unless you share that link yourself.

What we collect

If you submit the email form:

1. Your email address.
2. The date and time you submitted it.
3. The referring site and any campaign tags (utm parameters) in the link you arrived on, so we know which link brought you here. Calculator values in the address are not included.
4. A two-letter country code for the country your request came from, which Cloudflare derives from your connection. We do not store your IP address itself.

If you write to us through the contact form, we also store the message you send and the email address you give us, so we can reply.

Separately, and not linked to you, we keep daily counts: how many times a page was viewed, and how many times the calculator was used. Each count is broken down by page type and by the broad source that sent you here, for example "google", "bing", or "none" when no referring site was supplied. Sources are a fixed short list, and anything we do not recognise is counted as "other". A count records a category, never a full web address and never the numbers you entered.

These counts are not tied to your email address, to a cookie, or to any identifier, and they cannot be used to tell that a particular person visited. The site uses your browser's session storage only to avoid counting the same page view twice in one visit.

We do not set advertising cookies, we do not use a third-party analytics service, and we do not track you across other websites.

Why we collect it

• Your email address: to send you the printable chart and tell you about new calculators, and to reply if you write to us.
• The date, referrer, campaign tags and country: to understand which channels reach people and roughly where they are.
• The daily counts: to know which pages people find useful, and what share of visitors join the list.

Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, our legal basis for your email address is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time by asking us to delete your address.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

If we add an email provider to send the chart, we will update this table before any address is sent to it.

How long we keep it

Your email address and any messages: until you ask us to delete them, or until we stop running the site, in which case we delete the list within 30 days.

Your rights

Use the contact form at /contact.html and ask. You may request a copy of the data we hold about you, a correction, or deletion. We will action it within 30 days, and normally much sooner. You do not need an account, a form, or a reason.

If you are in the UK or the EEA, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy materially, we will update the date above, and where the change affects data we already hold about you, we will email you.
